Stormy...

When it rains like it has, and I can't do any surf photography (bad waves, too windy, poor water quality) I try and check out the sunset and once-in-a-while get lucky with ocean pastorals. I had my 40D with me but left my CF card at work so used the G9. Gallery is located here.

Another sunset...

Personally, I never tire of things like sunsets and moonrises. Sunrises I rarely see (though that's changed a bit this last year) as I've typically been an evening person most of my life. I guess I'll have to watch for more moonsets and see if I like those or not. This shot's from one of my galleries on FiatSurf.com.

New point-and-shoot...

So I picked up a Canon G9 not too long ago, just after Christmas. I wanted something a bit smaller than my 40D, a camera I could carry around that was reasonably small yet offered some decent features. On paper, the G9 fit the bill. One of the main features I like is that you can shoot in RAW mode, which captures all the information without assigning a color profile to the image. This way, the photographer can modify the various color paradigms and hopefully come up with something halfway decent. This shot was handheld and I was lucky enough to capture some of the bus in focus while getting a motion blur for the rest of the photo.

ArsLux.net - The Art of Light

Quite a heady title, I know. This blog is an offshoot of my photography website, FiatSurf.com and cousin to my other blog,NaH2O.com. Since my "saltwater" blog is mostly about surf, I wanted another spot to focus a bit more on the other photography stuff I do and/or am interested in. So, while FiatSurf is temporarily down, I'm starting with words and no pictures. But, you have to start somewhere and this is it. If, by chance, you stumble across this site, come back at some point in the future and there will probably be a few more images.

The above image was taken with my 10-22 EFS lens soon after I purchased it. I didn't have a tripod so opted for the foreground in-focus, background out-of-focus. I like how it turned out but will have to repeat with tripod and some different settings.
